Being a Professional Dancer; The Truth and the Entire Pro’s and Con’s

To dance is to move rhythmically, using certain steps and gestures, and usually performed to some style of music.  Most people dance socially.  But then there are Professional dancers.  Dancing is their work.  Professional dancers can also be divided in several different categories, for example, Ballet, Tap dance, and Ball room dancing.  All of these categories ask for hard work, discipline and focus. .  Dancing can be classified as a sport, but also as an art form.

In Social dancing the Professionals has specific levels you move through to get to the top.  They have yearly competitions and exams.  While busy with these, you can become a Dance Instructor, and teach others to dance.  Professional, Social dance includes a wide range of dances.  These dances are called “Ballroom”.  Ballroom dancing encompasses both traditional dances, such as Waltzing, Tango, Quickstep, Foxtrot and The Viennese Waltz, and then also the Latin dances, consisting of Cha-cha-cha, Samba, Rumba and Jive.  Lots of practice goes into these competitions for students as well as the instructors.  A whole lot more practice goes toward doing the exams.

Ballet, on the other hand, is also called a Profession.  Ballet is considered an art form, even though, if you take into account the strenuous exercise ballet dancers put their bodies through, daily, it can definitely be seen as a sport.  The term Classical Ballet, also envelope several forms of ballet dance.  Ballet dance originated in Italy and from their spread to other parts of Europe.  Classical Ballet is the most formal style of dance.  Neoclassical ballet has a less formal presentation, but is still very structured.  You have to dedicate your whole life and being towards becoming a successful dancer.  Many hours, days, months and years go into practicing and more practicing to realise a dance dream.

We can conclude that dancing takes a lot of practice.  Dancers are athletes and artists.  They must work hard to achieve their goals.  Dancers give years of their lives, gallons of sweat and tears, sometimes even blood to have the honour of performing on a stage.  And after each performance, you start over again, working for the next dance performance.
